Neyla Pekarek, composer of DCPA’s Rattlesnake Kate and formerly of The Lumineers, returns with her brand new EP, The Queen of Magic—songs inspired by iconic magician, Adelaide Herrmann. Join her for a night of Vaudevillian extravaganza, featuring magic from Erica Sodos, the harmonies from award winning barbershop quartet, Sunday Night Social, curiosities and amusement from circus performers Memento Mori and Kenzey Simper, and be the first to hear Neyla’s new music, performed with string quartet, choir, and an all-star band of Annie Booth, Kim Bird, Ty Breuer and Shawn King. Many surprises await this evening of unmatched spectacle.

Ever since I was a kid, I've always experienced feelings in a powerful way. Catching Feelings is a musical expression of different emotions I've experienced in life, like the liberation of riding a skateboard, the emptiness of driving through my rural hometown at night, the ups and downs of intimate relationships, and the joys of teaching and learning. Cello has always been my number one tool for expression, but playing in a classical style hasn't always been the best canvas. This album has elements of r&b, soul, and hip-hop, music that I grew up with, that serve as the canvas for sharing my experiences. Thank you to Chris Kramer and Ryan Nolan for adding the mixing/mastering details to really allow this project to come to life.
